AHA secures contract for Thakadu River Camp
Johannesburg, 28 June 2011 – African Hotels and Adventures (AHA), the property management company of Tourvest’s Accommodation and Activities division, has secured the sales, marketing and management contract for the Thakadu River Camp in the Madikwe Game Reserve.
Thakadu River Camp is a community-based tented safari camp and is an eco-tourism partnership between North-West Parks and the Molatedi community. It is set within the riverine canopy on the banks of the Marico River and comprises 12 spacious tented suites, each with its own viewing deck overlooking the river.
The main area of the camp comprises an open plan lounge, dining and reception area. The pool and the bar areas offer views of the gully and river to the north and a traditional lapa is located within a glade of natural riverine forest. The Madikwe Game Reserve is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna including black and white rhino, buffalo, elephant, lion, leopard, cheetah and wild dog.
Tourvest Accommodation and Activities CEO Gary Elmes says the camp is a significant addition to the group’s growing portfolio of city hotels, lifestyle retreats and lodges. “It will also help us to share our experience and expertise in tourism property management with the Molatedi community,” he says.
Other properties under Tourvest management consist of the iconic Casa do Sol in Mpumalanga, Imbabala Lodge on the Zambezi and the newly opened Elephant Camp in Victoria Falls, Makalali Private Game Lodge and Shakama Lodge and Spa in Limpopo, The Saint James on Venice Hotel in Durban, and the Adderley Hotel, L’Ermitage Franschhoek Chateau & Villas, Bantry Bay Luxury Suites, Simon’s Town Quayside Hotel, Leisure Bay Luxury Suites and Harbour Bridge Hotel & Suites all located in the Western Cape. It is also the operator of Lemala Luxury Camps in Tanzania…
